The UVC wavelength is also called deep ultraviolet.<\/p>\n<p>Leveraging the technology we have cultivated with InGaN-based blue LEDs, we propose AlGaN-based UV-C LEDs and their application products.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"section-s\">\n<h3 class=\"title-level02 title-mark\">Application Areas of UV-LEDs<\/h3>\n<p class=\"image ta-c\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/uvled-app-image_en.png?ver=200928\" width=\"680\" height=\"572\" \/><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--#uvled-app--><\/p>\n<div class=\"section\" id=\"uvled-mechanism\">\n<h2 class=\"header title-level01\">Mechanism of Disinfection (Inactivation) by UV Light<\/h2>\n<div class=\"content wrap\">\n<p class=\"mb20\">The mechanism of disinfection by UV light is not fully understood, but it is generally said to be as follows.<\/p>\n<p>The disinfection effect is most pronounced in the UVC region, which is less than 280nm.<\/p>\n<p>The UV absorption characteristics of nucleic acids in organisms are in the UVC region (Figure 1).<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that the nucleic acids inside bacteria absorb ultraviolet light, undergo chemical changes, inhibit metabolism, and eventually cause protoplasmic destruction (Figure 2).<\/p>\n<p>The disinfection ability of ultraviolet light can vary depending on the type of bacteria and environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. However, it can be represented by the multiplication of ultraviolet irradiation energy (mJ\/cm\u00b2), i.e., ultraviolet illuminance (mW\/cm\u00b2), and irradiation time (seconds).<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-disc mb20\">\n<li>Ultraviolet irradiation energy (mJ\/cm\u00b2) = Ultraviolet illuminance (mW\/cm\u00b2) x Irradiation time (seconds).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, UVC light has the ability to inactivate microorganisms.
