e-Rubber

e-Rubber is a next-generation rubber that operates with electricity and force. The basic structure is a thin film sandwiched between two electrodes made of rubber.

Sensor Function

When the rubber is compressed by pressure or pulled, the amount of electricity that can be stored in the electrodes changes.

Actuator Function

When a voltage is applied, the positive and negative electricity stored in the two electrodes attract each other,and the rubber in the middle is compressed to contract.

e-Rubber is expected to be used in various fields such as aging society, medical care, nursing care, sports, etc.

  • By using it for motion analysis in various sports, it can lead to skill improvement.
  • By analyzing various data over time, we can grasp the characteristics of walking, and detect conditions such as frailty due to aging and weakness in the legs and hips. In collaboration with Nagoya University and Shinshiro City in Aichi Prefecture, we are advancing social initiatives for "preventive medicine," which aims for early detection before the need for nursing care arises.
